The Knitting Factory closed its Williamsburg location in 2022, and the final show was Hannibal Buress reviving his much-loved stand-up night at the venue for one last hurrah. Hannibal has since bought the lease to the space (361 Metropolitan Ave), and will reopen it this summer as Isola Brooklyn.
There aren’t a lot of details about what to expect from Isola Brooklyn at the moment, but the website calls it “Williamsburg’s new sanctuary for artistic expression,” going on to say it “Is more than a venue to see a show. It’s a canvas for artists to share their passiion.” In a scroll-though of the Isola temporary landing page, Hannibal says that description is “probably a little pretentious, but it is was it is.” You can watch that below.
Elsewhere on the website, the venue is described as “where world class performances meet the comfort of home.”
No opening date for Isola has been given yet, but you can sign up for their mailing list. Stay tuned, and good luck as a venue owner, Hannibal!
Knitting Factory’s current NYC location is in the former Pyramid Club space in the East Village.
